The color for 2009 is yellow. Bright yellow, pastel yellow, rubber duck yellow; all shades of yellow are the hot color for this year. All designers are showing it in their collections whether it be as a piece of clothing, a whole outfit, or as a fashion accessory. If you usually shy away from yellow, we suggest you start with a fashion accessory such as a belt or scarf to have THE LOOK this year but not spend a large amount of money on something you may not wear very much after this year draws to a close. If you love yellow and want to show off your fashion sense in a more pronounced way, a blouse, jacket or dress are great ways to add yellow to your wardrobe that you can mix and match with your existing clothing. Yellow works great with purple, blue (especially navy) and of course, black. Yellow also works well with a variety of other colors that you can experiment with to see which ones look best on you. Please call us to set up a session on your personal color determination or wardrobe planning if you want to make sure you look your best. Another trend, which has actually been around for a long time but is currently getting more press, is getting your beauty products at drugstores or discount department stores. Total beauty.com has many valuable articles on the best “discount” beauty products that work just as well, or sometimes even better, than the high priced brands. To make buying these value added beauty products even more affordable, drugstores and discount department stores have these products on sale. Who could pass up a deal of buy one get one free that Kmart and Walgreens have quite regularly? You can buy double the colors of nail polish! If you are totally loyal to your higher priced beauty products, the different brands have events where if you spend a certain amount, you get makeup products (whether full size or trial size) for free or for a much reduced price. Around Christmastime, I got an incredible deal of Estee Lauder products for a nominal cost after spending a reasonable amount on any one of their fragrances. Once in a while the department stores will have coupons that give you a percentage off of all products they sell in that store. Usually it does not include cosmetics and fragrances, but sometimes it does and that’s the time to stock up! The last trend we would like to discuss is the development of ways women are creating to still be able to have their beauty treatments done. Since some people have a little less discretionary income than in previous years, women are finding creative ways to continue having their hair cut and styles, hair color, waxings, manicures, pedicures and other necessary beauty treatments done. A few examples are cutting back on morning coffees or bringing their own they made at home; bag lunches (which are probably more healthy) instead of going out to lunch most days; starting or developing one of the many home based businesses that are another way to produce extra income. We hope this information helps you be trendier in 2009! Please feel free to email us with feedback at kkimage@wi.rr.com
