Professional Dress for a Promotion

Professional Dress/Business Attire - Are you looking for a promotion?

As a Professional/Technical Recruiter I get asked a lot of questions about professional dress, dressing for interviewing and dressing for a promotion.

It is my belief that you should dress for the job you want or desire.

If you take note of how you dress it can have great impact on how you are perceived and make a positive impression for future promotions.

“You have seven seconds to make your first impression” is a statement I have on my website for a reason. Whether you are interviewing for that first job, interviewing for a promotion or making a presentation to land a big client you need to be at your best.

I have been in this situation.  I was in a recruiter position and wanted to be promoted to an account executive. This position was considered an inside/outside sales position. Now I would have to contact and meet with the client face to face.

I “stepped up my game”. I started to dress a little better, throwing on a suit jacket or sweater with a skirt. As soon  as a position opened up,  I was granted the job.

If you make a point to dress up on the everyday job, this will assist you in getting the promotion.
