First determine if the lady would like a classic, vintage inspired, or a dramatic contemporary style.
Look at budget and don’t waver from this, as there are styles to fit every price range and taste. You don’t want to regret it later.
This decision can set the course for the wedding bands, yours and hers.
Find a jeweler you can trust. I prefer the smaller stores, individually owned. You can go back periodically and have stones checked, sizing and repair work done.
Get quickly educated on cut, color and clarity of the stones.
Round diamond is a classic. Princess or Trillion cut can be more contemporary or dramatic.
The cushion cut has more of a vintage feel. Heart shaped is always romantic. The marquis and pear shaped have that elegant appeal.
Do not overlook the metal, yellow gold, white gold, rose gold and platinum. What does she wear most of currently? This could be a good indication of her style.
I know an excellent jeweler I would highly recommend in the Brookfield area to help with your ring buying decision.
